Day 1: Saturday, January 10th
Welcome to Guatemala!!! Your flight lands in Guatemala City and you will transfer to Antigua and check into the hotel. Rest & refresh before we get together this evening for a welcome dinner - this is where you will meet the ladies you’re traveling with!!
Dinner Included
Day 2: Sunday, January 11th
Today we will be exploring Antigua, this city is an UNESCO heritage site due to its preserved colonial architecture. We will walk through the center passing landmarks that make Antigua famous, admiring the Spanish colonial architecture, and learning about the culture + history of the country. We’ll shop through the local “mercado” (market) and see how these are a part of day to day life. Lunch will be in a traditional market eatery. You’ll have free time to wander through the center and markets before we head to a chocolate making workshop. We’ll taste chocolates and learn how the ancient Maya used cacao. The evening will be free to do as you please!
Breakfast Included
Day 3: Monday, January 12th
Coffee lovers this is your perfect morning - we’re visiting a local coffee farm on the lower slopes of Agua Volcano to learn about cultivating, harvesting, grinding, and roasting the traditional way… and of COURSE we are drinking some! The farmers wife will prepare lunch for us. We’ll head back to the hotel and have the rest of the day free to continue exploring Antigua. Maybe you will walk to Cerro de la Cruz to warm up your muscles and prepare for tomorrows big hike!
Breakfast & Lunch Included
Day 4: Tuesday, January 13th

AHHH this morning is so exciting!! You’re getting ready to have a challenging yet very cool adventure. After breakfast we will head to the hiking agency office for orientation, rental gear, and departing on our hike up Volcan De Acatenango. This hike is pretty intense - mostly uphill, around 8 miles in distance, and summits at 13,045 ft elevation. There will be porters you can pay a small fee to carry your gear up the volcano for you (this supports the locals as they would not have income if hikers didn’t provide them work). At the top of the hike we will arrive at our campsite, have dinner cooked by the local hiking guides, and sleep in cabins. You will be able to see Volcan De Fuego erupting all night out the door of your cabin and it is a MAGICAL experience - you most likely won’t want to sleep!!
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Wednesday, January 14th
Waking up at the volcano campsite - what a night! There is an opportunity to wake up before sunrise and hike a bit higher to the summit but its totally optional. We’ll get a bite to eat and start the descend back down. Arriving back in Antigua in the afternoon, we will get on a transfer and head to Lake Atitlan for a 2.5-3 hour drive. Checking into our hotel overlooking the stunning lake I suggest a dip in the hot tub for your sore muscles and getting some rest!
Breakfast Included

Day 6: Thursday, January 15th
Goodmorning! We’re heading into one of the lake’s villages ‘San Juan La Laguna’ and taking a cooking class guided by lovely community members. After eating the traditional meal we prepare we will tour the village known for artisan crafts including the women’s backstop loom weaving cooperatives and natural plant dyes, local honey, medicinal plants, and beautiful art galleries. Take some free time to explore and shop before heading back to Panajachel for a free evening.
Breakfast & Lunch Included

Day 7: Friday, January 16th
Up for one more hike? There’s an incredible sunrise hike overlooking the lake!! Nothing like a morning hike and then yoga session! If you opt for the hike you can return to the hotel for breakfast before catching a public water taxi to Santa Cruz la Laguna to have a dreamy lakeside yoga session. After class, explore the upper part of town with our local guide. Lets learn how to make tortillas, visit a sustainable mushroom grow house, and make tamales in the home of a local woman before sampling even more food! We’ll take our full bellies and head into a local village to donate water filters and all of the school supplies we collected for the children! This is such a special part of the trip. Leaving with such gratitude we will take a public boat back to Panajachel. Tonight we are having a group farewell dinner <3
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 8: Saturday, January 17th
We’ve come to a bittersweet day. The trip will be concluding after we check out of the hotel and take a group transfer to GUA airport. Hiking info

Hiking Volcán Acatenango is EPIC—but make no mistake, it’s also very challenging. This adventure takes us roughly 6 hours to reach basecamp, covering about 8 miles and gaining significant elevation. The volcano summits at 13,045 ft, though we’ll camp just below at around 12,000 ft.

Once at basecamp, you’ll have the option to do a sunrise summit hike the next morning for panoramic views—weather permitting.

From basecamp, we’ll witness the dramatic eruptions of Volcán de Fuego, Acatenango’s neighboring active volcano. While lava and smoke displays are common, they’re not guaranteed. On average, the volcano erupts every 15-30 minutes.

What to Expect at Camp:
-
We’ll sleep in cabins on the volcano (basic but shelter from the elements)
-
Be prepared for cold temperatures once the sun sets—cold-weather gear is a must
-
Dinner will be shared around a campfire, and a warm breakfast is served before the descent
-
Bathrooms are limited—nature or basic facilities may be the reality at times
This trek is tough, but the views and experience are unforgettable. Let’s challenge ourselves for an experience of a lifetime!

If you have any mobility or medical issues these should be discussed with me before committing to the trip.
